The full rundown on Wylands Farm Fishery

Wylands Farm Fishery sits on Powdermill Lane, Battle, TN33 0SU, with nine lakes spread across a 154-acre site. That’s the whole site, mind, not 154 acres of water. The big draw is choice: carp fishing, catfish, mixed coarse fishing and a 40-swim lake all feature. We haven’t fished it ourselves, so this is a look at what’s on offer rather than a tale about getting bagged up.

For carp-focused trips, Middle and New Specimen are both approximately two acres, while Kell offers approximately 1.5 acres of syndicate-only carp fishing. Maisie’s brings catfish into the mix alongside carp on approximately three acres. That gives you a few different directions for a dedicated session, but there are no checked fish weights here. Pick it for the species and the setup, not an assumed chance of a particular-sized lump or a guaranteed PB.

Fancy more variety on the hook? House is approximately two acres and lists carp, roach, bream, hybrids, tench and barbel. Old Specimen has carp, roach, rudd and bream across approximately three acres. Little Field is approximately one acre, with carp, roach and rudd. Rosie’s adds crucians and grass carp alongside carp, while Snake lists carp and crucians with 40 swims. There’s a proper choice without having to make every visit a carp-only mission.

The practical bit matters here: prebooking is mandatory. Day fishing and 24-hour fishing are offered, and year-round fishing is reported. There’s also a Wednesday day offer for anglers aged 65 and over, although New Specimen and Maisie’s are excluded. Junior night anglers need experienced supervision from someone aged over 21. Sort the booking and the right session before packing the motor; Kell’s syndicate-only access is a separate consideration, not another ordinary day-ticket option.

Bankside preparation is straightforward, but don’t skip it. Bring your rod licence and an unhooking mat or cradle, and dip nets, slings and sacks. All fish must go back, with a maximum of three rods. Barbless hooks are the general rule, although microbarbs are permitted on Middle and New Specimen. Keepnets are restricted to authorised matches. For a mixed-species day, that means enjoying what turns up without treating a pleasure session as a keepnet-filling exercise.

Off the bank, there’s a café, tackle shop, toilets, showers and parking, plus camping and self-catering accommodation. Handy if you’re making more than a quick trip of it. Check the shop hours before relying on a last-minute tackle top-up, as it closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. Overall, the appeal is the spread of fishing and useful extras. Choose your lake around what you actually want to catch, get booked in, and arrive with the fish-care kit sorted.
