The full rundown on Aston Park Fisheries

Aston Park Fisheries is a cracking-looking option on paper if your fishing swings between a busy pole session and a patient wait for a bigger carp. The complex occupies over 25 acres of parkland, with pleasure fishing, open matches and night fishing all on the menu. For the journey, use Fiddleneck Lane, off Mansfield Road, Aston, Sheffield, S26 5PQ. That’s the address to aim for rather than a pin showing the lakes themselves.

The lake choice is the big draw here. Bills gives you 15 pegs and water around 10–11 metres wide, while Butts stretches things out into a 50-peg snake lake. Lanta has 25 pegs and a central island, with widths of 13–14 metres. All three hold carp and F1s. Those published widths are handy for thinking through your pole setup before loading the car, rather than discovering you’ve brought the wrong kit at the peg.

There’s more to the place than narrow carp waters, though. Eliysia’s has 20 pegs, mixed species and a small island, with an average depth of three feet. Split offers 42 pegs and typically four to six feet of water, with carp to 20lb, F1s and ide. Stable has 34 pegs, mainly carp, F1s and ide, and typical depths of three to five feet. Plenty of choice without pretending every lake fishes the same.

If bigger carp are your thing, Lilly is the one that jumps out. It has 41 pegs, depths of four to six feet and a fishery claim of specimen carp exceeding 30lb. That gives the venue a different angle from its F1 and match offering. Night fishing is available too, with a 24-hour ticket covering up to three rods. Just sort availability first and remember the gates stay shut between dusk and dawn.

For an ordinary day, there’s no reservation faff: pegs don’t need booking. Do check the lake-closure signs, though, because open matches run most days alongside pleasure fishing. One rod costs £9, two cost £11 and three cost £13. The dedicated fishing-price sections agree on those figures, even though some FAQ blocks still show lower amounts. Annual membership is also offered, but there’s no published membership price in the supplied details.

A couple of bits are worth getting straight before you tackle up. The website names nine lakes, although its introduction still says seven; Clanky’s and Ruby’s are also listed, beyond the seven described in detail here. General hooks must be barbless and no bigger than size 10, with Lilly allowing up to size 6. Bring a landing net, leave nets on the bank for 30 minutes before use, and leave the keepnet packed unless you’re fishing a match. Simple enough once you know.
