Scenic UK carp lake at dawn

Fishery guide · Surrey

Newdigate Farms Estate Fishery

Newdigate Farms Estate offers seven day-ticket lakes, from mixed coarse waters to dedicated carp and tench options. Bean’s advertised carp to 45lb and Copse Meadow’s female tench to 10lb catch the eye, but there’s plenty here beyond chasing lumps.

“7.4/10 — The advertised mix offers substantial carp, catfish and dedicated specimen tench options, without implying guaranteed catches.”

The full rundown on Newdigate Farms Estate Fishery

Newdigate Farms Estate gives you a proper choice of fishing around Newdigate, Surrey. The estate advertises seven day-ticket lakes, plus three members-only lakes at Rusper. Dean House Farm, Church Road, Newdigate, Surrey RH5 5DL is the main address, but don’t assume that pin drops you beside every lake. Pick your water before setting off and check where you need to head — less faff when you’d rather be getting a rod out.

For mixed fishing, Centre and Snake are useful starting points. Centre is approximately three acres, with 28 positions and a limit of 20 day tickets. The estate lists catfish to 94lb, pike and carp to 30lb, plus tench, bream and roach. Snake is approximately two acres, with 30 positions and the same ticket limit. Its mix includes mirror, common and ghost carp alongside tench, golden orfe, bream and roach.

The smaller waters aren’t all doing the same job, either. Paddock is approximately three-quarters of an acre and holds carp, crucians, golden orfe and tench. Copse Meadow is a similar size, but it’s a dedicated specimen tench water, stocked exclusively with females advertised to 10lb. With only seven day tickets allowed there, it’s a very different proposition from choosing a mixed lake and seeing what turns up. Tench fans have a clear option.

Bean is the one to look at if specimen carp are your thing. It covers approximately six acres and contains around 250 female common, mirror and ghost carp, advertised to 45lb. The limit is ten day tickets. Guinea gives you approximately five acres, 17 positions and a 15-ticket ceiling, with tench, golden orfe, bream and crucians listed. Lodge is also described as a specimen lake, with a maximum of eight day tickets, though further detail isn’t published here.

The day-ticket system is straightforward: first come, first served, with fees collected by the bailiff. That means a ticket limit isn’t a reserved peg, so keep that in mind when planning your trip. Fishing starts at 7am and finishes 30 minutes before sunset; there’s no night fishing. Concessions are available for eligible anglers, but not on Bean, Lodge or Copse Meadow. Those three waters don’t allow matches either.

On the practical side, there are toilets in the Dean House Farm yard and parking, with vehicles required to stay on hardstanding. Pike anglers have one important detail to sort before a mid-March visit: the published closing dates disagree, giving either 14 or 16 March. Ring the fishery or email info@newdigatefarms.co.uk to check. We haven’t fished here, so this is a guide to the advertised options, not a claim about how readily the fish feed.

Where should I head?

The main address is Dean House Farm, Church Road, Newdigate, Surrey RH5 5DL. The location pin identifies the farm, not every estate lake, so confirm your chosen lake’s location before travelling.

How do I get a day ticket?

Turn up within fishing hours; tickets are first come, first served and the bailiff collects fees. Each lake’s ticket ceiling still applies.
