River Wye – Strangford – Brockhampton Fishery
River Wye · Day ticket
Strangford is a secluded Brockhampton Fishery estate beat on the middle Wye in Herefordshire, with twelve swims and day-ticket access. There’s a cracking mix of deep water beside a high bank and shallow, fast gravel water, with barbel and chub named for the beat.

River Thames — Pinkhill Weir stream to Daisy Ditch

A varied bit of Thames fishing at Pinkhill, managed by Abingdon & Oxford Anglers Alliance, with roach, chub, perch, pike and bream in the mix. The rights include the weir stream, 40 metres below the weir, then the left-hand bank downstream to Daisy Ditch.

River Wye – Belmont – Tennis Courts
River Wye · Day ticket or members
Belmont – Tennis Courts is H&DAA’s stretch immediately below Hereford’s Old Wye Bridge, with a deep bridge hole, a long shallowing bend and a riffle below Victoria footbridge. There’s a cracking mix of seasonal targets, plus a wheelchair- and mobility-scooter-accessible swim.

River Thames — Lower Whitley Farm

Lower Whitley Farm is the Alliance’s Thames stretch west of Farmoor Reservoir, tucked between Bablock Hythe and Pinkhill. Roach, bream and perch lead the match catches, with near-bank cover for chub and proper specimen potential for pike and perch.

River Wye – Holme Lacy – Luggs Mouth to Lucksall

A cracking mix of Wye water at Holme Lacy, running from Luggs Mouth to Lucksall under Hereford & District Angling Association. Barbel and chub lead the way, with shallow riffles, steadier runs and a deeper caravan-field section to choose from.

Franklin’s Meadow is a quiet, remote bit of the Oxfordshire Thames near Farmoor, run by Abingdon & Oxford Anglers Alliance. Several big bends and a named mix of roach, chub, perch, pike and bream give you plenty to mull over before picking a swim.

Bartonsham is a proper mixed stretch of the Hereford Wye, with deep slow water, steady runs and riffles under Hereford & District Angling Association. Barbel and large chub are the main summer draw, with plenty of other species on the venue list.

A proper wide, deep Thames stretch through pasture at Manor Farm, Appleford, run by London Anglers Association. There’s a weir pool in the mix, different flows at either end and feeder fishing firmly on the menu.

A proper city-centre Wye option: Belmont City North Bank is H&DAA’s famous match stretch, with a deep, steady run and plenty of named coarse-fish targets. Winter pegs can be busy, so an early start is worth the faff.

River Wye – Letton Court Fishery

Letton Court Fishery offers 1.5 miles of left-bank Wye fishing on the Letton Court Estate, between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. There’s coarse and game fishing, no defined pegs, and views across the Bredwardine Hills — a cracking setting for a river session.

River Trent – Broadholme, Burton upon Trent

Broadholme is Coors Angling Club’s island stretch of the Trent at Burton upon Trent, with 26 listed pegs spread around both sides. Bridge buttresses, a proper deep hole and tree-lined pegs give you plenty to weigh up before settling into a swim.

BAA’s Handsacre stretch is a shallow upper-Trent fishery, with 25 pegs along 700 yards upstream of the new road bridge. Winter roach are the headline act here, while heavy summer weed can make things a proper faff.

Hampton Loade gives BAA members over three miles of continuous left-bank fishing on the Shropshire Severn. Barbel and chub are the main draw, with swimfeeder and ledger tactics getting the holder’s nod.

River Trent – Andressey, Burton upon Trent
River Trent · Club membership — committee approval required
Coors Angling Club’s Andressey stretch has 20 marked pegs and a proper change in depth, from 5–6 feet at pegs 1–5 to around 16 feet beside the willow at peg 6. There’s float fishing in the upper swims, plus a flat tarmac approach that suits a fishing trolley.

A proper sweep of Staffordshire Trent: roughly three miles between Enson and Weston, run by Saracens Head Angling Group. Deep bends, long pools and faster runs give it plenty of character, with high banks needing a bit of care.

A cracking bit of variety on the Shropshire Severn: Dawley Angling Society’s Ironbridge stretch runs for approximately 1.5 miles of right-bank fishing. There’s deep, slow water in The Woods, platforms in The Gardens and rocky, shallow rapids downstream.

Sydney Avenue is a cracking-looking mix of shallow gravel glides, weedy slack water and weir-pool features on the Severn at Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury Town Fisheries runs this council-owned water, with online day and annual permits available to the public.

Coors Angling Club’s Municipal stretch in Burton upon Trent has 23 swims, with seasonal weed growth affecting availability. There’s a proper mix of features here: a deeper inside channel at peg 1, an old weir and backwaters at peg 6, and barbel noted at peg 9.

Lego Blocks is one of Telford Angling Association’s Buildwas waters on the Shropshire Severn, with barbel the main draw. Think bendier, shallower, faster and rockier water than TAA’s Dale End stretch — proper moving-water character.

Sherratts is Coors Angling Club’s stretch of the Trent at Burton upon Trent, with roughly 33 pegs and a proper mix of named river species. There’s fast, shallow water at the upstream end, a noted bream section and trolley-friendly access.

River Severn — Coalport (Rowley & District Angling Society)

A proper long stretch of the Shropshire Severn, Coalport gives Rowley & District Angling Society members approximately 2.5 miles of river and 104 maintained pegs. Four sets of rapids are the standout feature, with barbel, chub and dace named by the society.

Watersmeet is Coors Angling Club’s stretch of the Trent at Burton upon Trent, with plenty of undefined swims and a slower bit opposite an island. The pipe-bridge swim gets a proper mention for large chub — just watch those higher banks.

Finding somewhere to fish near you
Type a town, county or fish into the box up top — something like “Nottingham”, “carp Nottinghamshire” or “day ticket River Trent” — and we'll pull up the waters we've checked nearest that spot. Around Nottingham, for example, you'll find canal stretches, the tidal-free middle Trent and plenty of commercial lakes within a short drive.
Every listing tells you the stuff you actually need before you load the car: what's in each lake or stretch, whether it's a day ticket, club or syndicate water, the house rules and what a ticket costs when we last checked. Rules and prices change, so always give the fishery or club a quick shout before you go.
Rivers, canals and stillwaters fish completely differently. Lakes reward a bit of watercraft and steady feeding; rivers are all about flow, depth and level, so we show live river levels where we can. Use the water-type and fish filters to narrow it down, then open a venue for the lake-by-lake or stretch-by-stretch lowdown.
