The full rundown on St Ives Lakes Fishery

St Ives Lakes Fishery is a nine-lake complex tucked away in rural Cambridgeshire. The waters are Andersons, Fjords, Ivo, Lagoon, Long Reach, Meadow, Shallow, Tri-Cor and Lowries. So there’s plenty to get your head around, whether you fancy a serious carp campaign or a more mixed coarse approach.

The Lagoon is the central, historic water and has plenty going for it. Carp reach the upper-40lb bracket, while large tench and bream add a bit of variety. The bream have reportedly reached 19lb, and there are pike approaching 30lb too. Around 100 carp were introduced into the Lagoon, according to the fishery.

Shallow Pit is another headline water. It has around 20 carp over 30lb, with a stated best of 48lb 8oz. There are also double-figure tench and bream, plus pike over 20lb. That sounds like a water where careful feature-finding and a quiet margin approach could pay handsomely.

Meadow/Fjords is described as a mature, wild gravel pit covering about 100 acres. Carp run to around 44lb, with stock fish into the 20-30lb range. Large bream, tench and eels are also present, including eels reportedly over 8lb. That’s a cracking mix for anglers who like a proper old-school pit.

Long Reach covers about 40 acres and holds carp over 40lb, along with large tench, bream, eels and pike. Andersons, Ivo and Tri-Cor contain carp over 30lb, plus tench, bream and silverfish. Ivo is also available for match bookings, so there’s a bit of competition-fishing interest in the complex.

The ticket setup is worth checking closely before planning a trip. The standard all-lakes ticket includes Lagoon, Andersons, Ivo, Lowries, Meadow, Fjords, Tri-Cor and Long Reach, while Shallow is included on the full and winter full tickets. Published day-only tickets are dawn-to-dusk, and the official prices page does not confirm ordinary night fishing or a separate night ticket.

Carp tuition includes a 24-hour session covering rigs, methods and related techniques. Pike tuition is available from 1 November, although its price isn’t published. Season tickets are available from St Ives Tackle or by prior arrangement, with an application form and contact form rather than an online checkout. A venue with plenty of water, some proper lumps and enough species to keep things interesting.
