The full rundown on Lindholme Lakes

Lindholme Lakes is at Don Farm, West Carr, Epworth, near Doncaster, DN9 1LF. If you like a coarse venue with a proper choice of pegs and different depths to think about, there’s plenty to get your teeth into here. The named fishing lakes range from one-acre Strip to 8.5-acre Bennys, with day tickets and match bookings available. It’s worth choosing your water rather than treating the whole place as one identical stretch of bank.

Beeches stands out for its spacing: four acres, 37 pegs and over 16 metres between them. Bennys is bigger, with 60 pegs, F1 fishing and depths reaching 11ft. Bonsai packs 85 pegs into 4.5 acres and is mainly 6ft deep, with ledges to investigate. Those are useful differences when you’re deciding what sort of session you fancy. Room between pegs, deeper water or a change in depth to plumb up — take your pick.

Laurels brings 69 pegs across 3.5 acres, mainly in 6–7ft of water. Willows is shallower at mainly 4–5ft, with 57 pegs over three acres, while Strip has 24 pegs and depths to 5ft. There’s no need to assume the same setup will be bob on everywhere. A careful plumb around your chosen peg makes sense, especially where ledges or a change of depth could influence how you present a bait.

Loco adds another angle. It’s five acres with 50 pegs and depths to 10ft, and its listed fish include carp, F1s, bream, ide, roach, rudd, perch and pike. That’s a cracking spread for anglers who enjoy mixed coarse fishing rather than thinking only about carp. Winter predator fishing is possible, but it isn’t a turn-up-and-crack-on arrangement: you need permission, and there must be no match booking on the lake. Sort that before loading the predator gear.

The bank rules deserve a look before you pack. Hooks must be barbless, no bigger than size 10, and braid is prohibited. Only Drennan Lindholme feed pellets are allowed, while feeder and bomb rigs must run freely. Groundbait goes in through a feeder or pole cup. Keepnets are for matches only, and nets need 30 minutes drying on the bank before use. Getting those bits sorted beforehand saves a load of faff when you’re itching to fish.

Off the bank, you’ve got a tackle-and-bait shop, café, restaurant and licensed bar, plus showers, toilets and a laundrette. Lodges, touring pitches and camping give you options for a longer stay, and there’s a children’s play park too. Don’t confuse staying overnight with ordinary night fishing, though: the bank hours exclude that. Oasis is described as the lakefront lodge development, while Olivias and Oscars are still labelled coming soon. Check those plans rather than banking on extra fishing water.
