The full rundown on Janson Fishery
Janson gives you a proper choice of fishing without making every lake sound like the same job. The eight waters cover mixed-coarse pleasure sessions, match fishing and a more focused carp option on Redmile One. You’ll find the fishery and caravan complex on Redmile Lane, Elton, Nottinghamshire, NG13 9FA. For anyone looking around Bingham, that’s the address to put in the satnav rather than heading into town.
For a straightforward pleasure day, Tomo’s and Donut are handy starting points. Tomo’s has 18 pegs and a mix of double-figure carp, tench, orfe, rudd and roach. Donut has 15 pegs, is described as suitable for disabled anglers, and adds ide, barbel and skimmer bream to its carp, roach and rudd. Its oval layout puts the central island approximately 10 metres from the bank, so the main feature isn’t a distant target.
The match side has some useful layout detail to help you pick your water. Aubreys offers 26 match and pleasure pegs, roughly 12 metres to the island and 11-metre peg spacing. Match Pool has 40 pegs with approximately 11 metres of water between bank and island. Munroes has 24 match pegs, an island about 13 metres out and carp including F1s. Those distances give you something concrete to plan around, rather than just another promise of cracking fishing.
Fancy concentrating on carp instead? Redmile One is approximately an acre, with seven pegs and a central island. Its published carp range is 10–23lb, with seasonal depths of 1–2 metres. Sessions are booked ahead through Swimbooker, with 12-hour and 24-hour options; the latter allows overnight fishing. Redmile Two is a different proposition: a 12-peg pleasure lake, accommodating 10 match pegs, with carp, barbel and depths up to one metre. Caravan Lake is reserved for pod and lakeside touring-pitch guests.
The dedicated price table puts an adult one-rod day ticket at £7 and the over-65 or under-15 equivalent at £6. That keeps an ordinary pleasure session in sensible money. There’s also a seasonal £5 evening ticket. Some other website wording still shows lower prices, so stick with the dedicated table when budgeting. Tuesday and Thursday opens run year-round, while weekend and bank-holiday opens request advance booking. Club organisers also have a per-peg option, with smaller bookings open to discussion.
Before you set off, sort the small bits that save a faff at the gate. The prominent winter notice says 7am–4pm, but older 7:30am–dusk wording remains, so confirm the hours for your date. Pleasure-lake hooks must be barbless and no bigger than size 12, and keepnets are prohibited. Redmile One needs advance payment, with no session price published on its page. Pick the right water, check access and timings, and you’ve got a much clearer plan for the day.

How we'd fish Tomo’s Pool
carp
A neat lead-clip rig over a light scattering of bait
When you don't know the lake well yet, the simplest approach is the best start: a reliable bottom bait rig on a clean spot, with just enough bait to get a bite without filling them up.
- Feel the lead down to find a firm spot, then clip up so you hit it every cast.
- Fish a single boilie or wafter with 20–30 freebies around it.
- Leave one rod roving and recast it to showing fish.
tench
Method or maggot feeder for tench
Tench love margins and weedy patches. A feeder puts a small, tight patch of bait right by the hookbait.
- Fish 10–20 yards out, or tight to the cover where it's safe to land fish.
- Recast every 10–15 minutes early on to build the swim.
- Short hooklink with a dead red maggot, corn or a 8mm wafter.
rudd
Floating baits and shallow float for rudd
Rudd feed high in the water, often near reeds and lilies on warm days. Fish up in the water to them, not on the bottom.
- A light waggler set 1–2ft deep with a single maggot or caster on a size 18.
- Loose-feed little and often to bring them up.
- Floating bread flake works brilliantly in summer.
roach
Float maggot for roach
On a mixed lake a waggler and a pint of maggots is the easiest way to keep the float going under all day.
- Feed six to ten maggots every cast.
- Shallow up if bites come on the drop.
- Size 18 hook and light hooklength.

How we'd fish Donut Pool
carp
Light baiting tight to the island margins
Carp patrol the island margins on most venues. A handful of bait right on the edge often beats a heavy bed in open water, especially later in the day.
- Walk the bank first and look for bubbling, swirls or coloured water by the cover.
- Bait two or three spots with a few handfuls of chopped and whole boilies.
- Lower or flick the rig in quietly and back your line off with a back lead.
- Keep the drag set tight-ish — fish hooked by cover need turning quickly.
barbel
Pellet and boilie for the lake barbel
Lake barbel feed hard and fight harder. Use a strong rod and line, and rest them properly in the net before release.
- Halibut pellet or small boilie over a bed of pellet.
- Strong hooklink and a size 10–12 hook.
- Never hold barbel out of water long — keep them in the net until they've recovered.
bream
Groundbait feeder at range for bream
Bream shoal up and graze over open, silty areas. A steady stream of groundbait in one spot keeps a shoal in front of you.
- Clip up and hit the same spot every cast.
- Start with 8–10 feeders quickly, then recast every 5 minutes.
- Worm, maggot or corn on a size 14–16.

- Walk the bank first and look for bubbling, swirls or coloured water by the cover.
- Bait two or three spots with a few handfuls of chopped and whole boilies.
- Lower or flick the rig in quietly and back your line off with a back lead.
- Keep the drag set tight-ish — fish hooked by cover need turning quickly.

- Leave one rod roving and recast it to showing fish.

How we'd fish Caravan Lake
carp
A bigger bed of bait at range
On wide, open water the fish move about a lot — a decent bed of bait at range holds a passing group long enough to get a bite.
- Find a clean, hard spot with a marker float and clip up so every cast lands on it.
- Spread the bait with a spod or throwing stick — little and often.
- Mix boilies, pellet and particles so there's always something left for the fish to graze.
- Match the hookbait to the freebies.
carp
Zigs in the warmer months
In clear, deep water carp often sit up in the layers on warm days. A zig is the only way to get a bait in front of them.
- Start at half depth and move up or down a foot at a time until you get bites.
- Black or foam hookbaits work well on bright days.
- Keep it simple — no freebies needed.

How we'd fish each lake
Our own suggestions, worked out from each lake's features, its main fish and the venue rules. They're tried-and-tested methods, not reports from this venue, so watch the water and ask in the tackle shop on the day.

- Keep low and quiet on the bank.
- In summer, try a free-lined slug or floating crust.
